Become More Grateful & Productive With The 5 Minute Journal

Eric Evenstad • July 17, 2018

One of the best ways to set yourself up for a successful day is to have a great morning routine. But what does a great morning routine look like?

For me, I like to hydrate right when I wake up. Then I try to do some light exercise to get the flood flowing - this could be a walk, a run, some weight training or even just a couple minutes of jumping jacks.

After that, I like to sit down and fill out The Five Minute Journal.

Now you're probably wondering what The Five Minute Journal is and how it could possibly help.

Well, The Five Minute Journal is a templated journal that you fill out every day. It's made up of two parts. One for the morning and one for the evening.

Each morning you open up the journal and write three things that you're grateful for, three things that would make today great, and a daily affirmation. Doing this gets your mind ready to seize the day and be a better, more productive entrepreneur.

Then, each night you write down three amazing things that happened during the day plus something that you could have done to make the day even better. This gives you a few moments to reflect on what went well and what you could improve upon.

For me, I find that The 5 minute Journal does a great job of getting my mindset right each morning, which allows me to be a more focused, productive & grateful entreprepeneur/person. And the reflection time each night is crucial to my growth as an entrepreneur/person because it forces me to take the time to analyze what went well and what didn't during any given day.

I would highly recommend that everybody gets in the habit of filling out The 5 Minute Journal on a daily basis, but I think it's especially important for entrepreneurs to add this into their daily routine.
