How To Build An Email List With A Content Upgrade

Email marketing is one of the best ways to keep current, past and prospective customers informed about your company and your products/services.

And in terms of return on investment, it's one of the most profitable marketing methods available to businesses today.

For those of you that are ready to start building an email list, I have a really great strategy that will help you build your list fast... here's what you need to do:

  1. Go to your website or blog and find the most popular post or article (If you don't have a website or blog, you should start one and begin writing articles that add value to your target market).

  2. Once you've found your most popular post/article, you want to create what's called a "Content Upgrade". This content upgrade should be something of value like a free checklist, resource list, template or cheat sheet.The content upgrade should closely relate to your most popular post/article.

    So, if you are a plumber and you have a blog post about winter plumbing tips, you might create a content upgrade that is a checklist, outlining everything a homeowner should do in the fall to prepare their plumbing for winter. Then add a link to that content upgrade offer within your post/article.

  3. Create an opt-in page for the content upgrade and require people to enter their name and email address in order to get the content upgrade. When they do enter their name and email address, they will be added to your email list and you will send them whatever content upgrade you promised them.

The secret is to create high value content upgrades that your website visitors and blog readers will really want... and make sure you promote your content upgrades within your most popular blog posts or website pages.

If you do that, you'll be able to quickly turn website visitors into email subscribers which will eventually turn into paying customers.
